EspSpace, Time, Light, Movement.
Cinema comes from photography. The work of Marey in France and Mybridge in the USA on the decomposition of movements ensured the transition from one technique to another.
Photography, or heliography as Niepce called it, is the capture of light rays on a sensitive surface, of any kind, chemical or electronic.
Cinema captures the movements of light rays, incident or reflected, in a given time. Or, if you will, cinema inscribes a journey within a space over a certain period of time. Whether this journey is that of the filmmaker in a fixed space or the journey of an element of space in a circumscribed duration and a fixed point of view.
The force, and it is an understatement to use the word force, of the Lumière brothers' "entry of a train into La Ciotat station", with their predestined names, is this laying bare of the correlation of this space/time through a movement.
Movement is the journey, in a given time, of a given space. We remember the paradoxes of Zeno of Elea.
This is what the prefix ciné etymologically recalls.
It is to these sources of cinema that I wanted to lay bare, for example through this very short film "L'Imposte" filming the trajectory of projection, through a window, a ray of sunlight on a wall, in a single fixed sequence shot, accelerated in editing.
And yet this movement is only an illusion because, as we know, it is not the sun that is moving here, but the wall (and the shot is fixed only because the camera moves with it) and our whole Earth.

VOIR LE FILM LA CLÔTURE "LA CLÔTURE est un film numérique structuré par une succession de panoramiques à 360° courant de pièce en pièce, puis de jardin en jardin, d'est en ouest, de la maison occupée par l'artiste. La bande sonore est issue de matériaux enregistrés d'objets domestiques : machine à laver, cafetière électrique, radio, robinets, etc. Sons qui ont été l'objet de manipulations spécifiques : étirements, volumes, etc.
